Project Proposal Analog Clock

Analog Clock

We are aiming to make an analog clock. We chose this because the clock has an opportunity to have multiple components that can be tested and modified. Constructing a basic clock is a foundational engineering design that can pull from our group’s knowledge. The first and main component to design and test are the gears that drive the clock. We can experiment with the amount of gears, size of gears, number and size of gear teeth, etc. Additionally we can design a clock face and hands. These are more aesthetic components of the clock and we can experiment with different materials and printing processes to get the best components.

Our first print trial should be of different gear shapes and teeth. The amount of teeth per gear may affect the supports being printed which then affects print quality. We can also try different print orientations to see if that affects the quality of any of the parts.
